Bird and Boy started in 2013 in Tweed Heads but instantly fell in love with the lush and dreamy feel of Scenic Rim weddings! Check out our favourite wedding locations, venues and some real shoots to inspire your own day.

How did we start in the Scenic Rim?

We first started our wedding photography journey back in 2013 when we were doing an accountancy degree at uni. We were working part-time as food photographers for recipe magazines to fund our education. Our close friends had just become wedding photographers in Byron Bay and their “job” seemed so much more exciting than what we were currently doing at uni. A few months later we ended our degree, stopped photographing food and started capturing love instead.

We immediately became familiar with all the venues and natural wonders around us and are now seen regularly on the Scenic Rim at venues such as Rosewood Estate, Tamborine Mountain Glades and Kooroomba Lavender Farm. We absolutely love the area due to the picturesque mountainside, lush gardens and surreal sunsets. We still pinch ourselves every day believing this is our “job”.

Oh Rosewood… such a beautiful property right next to the Lamington National Park with so many open airy spaces. The first time we were lucky to visit this venue was for a styled shoot with multiple local vendors and models. We were so amazed by the beauty of the venue and have since been here so many times and still love it as much as the first time!

Kooroomba Lavender Farm

Oh we do a lot of weddings at Kooroomba and we wouldn’t have it any other way. The views are spectacular, the sunset is amazing and there are so many photo opportunities on-site. The lavender fields, vineyard and paths are breathtaking.

Previously known as “Cedar Creek Lodges”, this venue is alongside the cedar creek and the lush national park. You will see us here a lot and the great thing is that you can host your whole day here including the guest’s accomodation.

Albert River Wines

This all-in-one venue is beautiful, has amazing scenic rim views, lush vineyards and so many different spots to choose for your ceremony and reception. There is also a bridal cottage for prep and a chapel for the classic ceremony vibes. Albert River Wines also has Jacaranda trees lining the paths during the seasonal months.

Oh my gosh, this is the most elegant and Georgian venue ever. It is absolutely breathtaking and has multiple ceremony locations and accomodation for guests within walking distance. This is the epitome of European goodness and you will not be disappointed.

Beechmont Estate is a wonderful all-in-one venue which sits alongside the Scenic Rim and the Lamington National Park. This venue sleeps a massive 48 guests and has many ceremony and reception options which means you can make this venue your own. It is a blank canvas for your perfect dream wedding.

Hampton Estate Wines

Hampton Estate Wines was one of the first Mt Tamborine venues we ever shot at and it was such an experience. The venue has onsite cottages for guests and lots of different options to hold a ceremony. The wet weather options are beautiful and the scenery is amazing.

to your questions

We live on the Tweed Coast and have been capturing weddings on the Scenic Rim since 2013 and shoot there regularly. We know the area so amazingly well and love how it feels like you have entered a whole new world of mountains, lush landscapes and lavender farms.

We have spent 13 years here on the Tweed Coast so know the Scenic Rim area amazingly well as it starts only 1 hour away from us. We shoot here regularly and are often see at a variety of venues… especially Kooroomba Lavender Farm, Rosewood Estate and Tambourine Mountain Glades.

Depending on the venue, you may be able to stay on-site. However, if you would like to travel, it depends on what is nearby. In Mt Tamborine there are heaps of hidden spots such as the lookout and the waterfall. Most of the other venues have so many wonderful spots on-site.

We travel everywhere but you mainly find us shooting on the coast between Brisbane and Byron Bay and around the Scenic Rim area.

It really depends on your venue and location. Most of the venues have easy parking but some locations are a bit of a distance from the nearest city. In this case I would recommend hiring transport to help drop your guests and bridal party off.

We require a booking fee upfront to lock in your special day and the rest is due one month prior. We also provide payment plans if this is an easier setup for you and your budget.
