Taela + Grant
Summergrove Estate Wedding
TWEED COAST, 8 HOUR WEDDING

SESSION DETAILS
Wow… what a day! Some weddings are beautiful because everything goes to plan. Others are unforgettable because nothing does. Taela and Grant’s wedding was one of those days you feel rather than just see.
Set in the rolling hinterland at Summergrove Estate… one of our most favourite venues and only 10 minutes from our house… their day started sunny and warm before the weather completely changed. Thunderstorms rolled in, rain poured down, fog wrapped around the hills and at one point a rainbow and lightning lit up the sky. Instead of stressing, Taela and Grant were chill, were right into it and trusted the day to unfold as it was meant to.
These two lovely people have been together for five years and engaged for two, and it shows in how naturally they went through the day. They are adventurous, competitive and love pushing themselves outside their comfort zones. From climbing to Everest Base Camp to saying yes no matter the weather, their wedding day was a perfect reflection of who they are.
Portraits were taken in the rain with umbrellas, with a seriously fun and happy bridal party, the day was full of laughter and quiet moments between the epic weather. The fog and storm clouds created the most dramatic backdrop, proving that wet and stormy wedding days can be just as beautiful, if not more, than clear blue skies. We are always asked about weather options and what we will do with portraits when and if it rains… this wedding just shows that crazy weather can make for even more amazing photographs.
Inside the reception, the atmosphere was warm, intimate and full of dancing, speeches and smiles. Outside, the storm reminded everyone that love does not need perfect conditions when you have a wedding with such loyal, laid-back and close guests.
This was actually one of our most favourite weddings as the storm really brought everyone together and had all the guests racing outside to see the crazy clouds and watching Taela and Grant doing a portrait session in the rain. What champions!!
