Byron Bay Wedding Photographer
Byron Bay… where we started, loved and will always be.
Bird and Boy started in 2013 on the Tweed Coast and instantly gravitated towards Byron Bay! Take a look at our favourite wedding locations, recommended venues and some real shoots and couples to inspire your own day.
How we started in Byron Bay…
We first started our wedding photography journey back in 2013 when we were doing an accountancy degree at uni. We were working part-time as food photographers for recipe magazines to fund our education. Our close friends had just become wedding photographers in Byron Bay and their “job” seemed so much more exciting than what we were currently doing at uni. A few months later we ended our degree, stopped photographing food and started capturing love instead.

From that point, Bird and Boy grew quicker than we thought and we became a trusted, local wedding photography business. We became extremely familiar with venues close to our hometown such as The Earth House, Byron Bay beaches, Forget me Not, all around Ewingsdale and little air bnbs. Before long, we were in Byron weekly and not believing this was out full time “job”.

Earth House
You will find us here a lot. Especially when we are collaborating with Hitched in Paradise for an elopement! It truly has a relaxed feel as it is out in the country and is sooo quiet. Plus, everything can be done on-site! The building itself is made using rammed earth from soil and trees from the property… hence the name “Earth House”.

Forget me Not
We love Forget me Not and it is one of the venues in Byron we visit often. It has so many photo opportunities and is impressively large. It has multiple ceremony locations and a pond with a boat. So cute!! The lovely owners are super friendly and helpful and they really look after your guests and vendors.

Cape Byron Bay Lighthouse
This is such a key part of Byron Bay and is a common photo op for couples getting married in the area. There is also the availability to hire out the green grassy patch in front of the lighthouse if you would like to get married up the top. We recommend finding transport to drop guests off as parking can be super difficult and you don’t need that type of stress on your day!

This was the first venue we ever visited in Byron back in 2014 and we still keep in contact with the couple who were married here. It was such an amazing experience with the incredible property, restaurant and impressive fig trees.
