Byron Bay Wedding Photographer

Byron Bay… where we started, loved and will always be.

Bird and Boy started in 2013 on the Tweed Coast and instantly gravitated towards Byron Bay! Take a look at our favourite wedding locations, recommended venues and some real shoots and couples to inspire your own day.

How we started in Byron Bay…

We first started our wedding photography journey back in 2013 when we were doing an accountancy degree at uni. We were working part-time as food photographers for recipe magazines to fund our education. Our close friends had just become wedding photographers in Byron Bay and their “job” seemed so much more exciting than what we were currently doing at uni. A few months later we ended our degree, stopped photographing food and started capturing love instead.

From that point, Bird and Boy grew quicker than we thought and we became a trusted, local wedding photography business. We became extremely familiar with venues close to our hometown such as The Earth House, Byron Bay beaches, Forget me Not, all around Ewingsdale and little air bnbs. Before long, we were in Byron weekly and not believing this was out full time “job”.

Byron Bay weddings are naturally calm…

You will find us here a lot. Especially when we are collaborating with Hitched in Paradise for an elopement! It truly has a relaxed feel as it is out in the country and is sooo quiet. Plus, everything can be done on-site! The building itself is made using rammed earth from soil and trees from the property… hence the name “Earth House”.

to your questions

We live on the Tweed Coast and have been capturing weddings in Byron since 2013 and shoot there weekly. We know the area so amazingly well and love the natural landscape, hidden gems and historic feel.

We have spent 13 years here on the Tweed Coast so know the Byron Bay area amazingly well as it is only 40 minutes away from us. We shoot here regularly and are often see at the local venues.

Depending on the venue, you may be able to stay on-site. However, if you would like to travel, we often shoot at Wategos, Little Wategos, the train tracks, the lighthouse and this little lookout on the other side of the mountains which gives an amazing view!

We travel everywhere but you mainly find us shooting between Brisbane and Byron Bay.

It really depends on your venue and location. Some venues have easy parking whereas some are super difficult such as the lighthouse. In this case I would recommend hiring transport such at he Magic Bus or a Kombi to help drop your guests and bridal party off.

We require a booking fee upfront to lock in your special day and the rest is due one month prior. We also provide payment plans if this is an easier setup for you and your budget.
